Berkeley County, West Virginia Warrant Search

An arrest warrant permits the police to arrest an individual and hold them in custody. Arrest warrants often prelude a criminal case—a warrant is issued, an arrest is made, and the individual is then brought before the court to answer the charges.

While police agencies are responsible for carrying out arrests, they cannot issue arrest warrants. An agency must submit a request to the court explaining why the warrant is needed. A judge will then examine the request and issue the warrant if satisfied with the evidence or facts provided.

Arrest warrants, once issued, are handed over to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. Individuals can view persons with active warrants on the Sheriff's Wanted Persons page. Inquiries can also be made by phone at (304) 267-7000 or in person at the Sheriff's Office.
